I got a parking ticket in Italy, have driven on the "wrong" side of the road in Ireland, dropped a cell phone in a cave in Iceland, harvested a live fish in Belize, and wandered accidentally onto a nude beach in Barcelona. From packing, navigating airports, car rentals, finding that perfect accommodation, choosing tourism sites, flight deals, and saving money - (think medium budget), I'll offer tips I've learned through my experiences. Sign up for my Newsletter below. Can't wait to adventure with you. Travel tips include the above mentioned countries, as well as Switzerland, Zimbabwe, The Philippines, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, England, Yvoire (France), and Denmark. In my newsletter, I also toss in some Bible verses and cleaning tips, because I'm weird like that.
Some of my most useful travel gear and accessories are listed below, available from Amazon, organized by country. :)
#1 Iceland is one of the most incredible places I've visited. I rented a car with my best friend and we drove the Ring Road, essentially all the way around the country. We visited during August—the end of summer. Even without snow, you'll need a cozy jacket and hat at a minimum. Iceland is incredibly windy—in fact, one of the car rental warnings : insurance will not cover doors that blow off. Yep - it's a real thing. We snorkeled in the Silfra Fissure, went whale watching in Husavik, hiking all over, and tried to catch sheep. If you buy nothing else, invest in waterproof wind pants, and of course, cozy outerwear, especially if the forecast calls for rain or you plan to walk on the beaches. I also had to purchase neoprene clothing for snorkeling in the Silfra Fissure (highly recommend). The outfitters provide wet or dry suit, but you have to be bundled up first because the temp is 1 degree. It's also wise to carry a waterproof backpack, or a backpack cover.
